Watermark

The Watermark

Introduction

When our clients discovered Watermark, a charming riverside home on the River Dart in Stoke Gabriel, they instantly knew it was the perfect project for them.

Watermark is a beautiful red stone property, rich in history with origins as an 1800s boathouse. The potential was clear, but it needed a significant transformation. That’s where we at Harban Redwood stepped in.

The Project

From the moment we arrived, we knew this project was special. Our clients didn’t just want a renovation; they wanted to create a luxury holiday home that respected Watermark’s rich history while also embracing modern living.

Harban Redwood were involved from start to finish, handling everything from structural design and building regulations to the finer details of construction. Navigating the building regulations for a project like this can be challenging, however we made sure all approvals were managed smoothly.

The Process

The first priority was the structure itself. Watermark’s historical roots required more than just preservation; we needed to ensure it would stand strong for years to come. Our team conducted a thorough assessment to guarantee the foundation was as solid as the history it rests on.

Our approach extended beyond preservation—we also introduced a touch of ingenuity.

A standout feature is the ‘disappearing’ windows, expertly crafted to seamlessly merge the indoors with the breathtaking River Dart view, allowing the living room to effortlessly connect with the outdoors.

Then there’s the curved staircase with custom balustrades. Designed specifically for Watermark, this centerpiece involved months of meticulous planning and collaboration with an expert aluminum fabricator. The result is a breathtaking combination of elegance and functionality.

As you explore Watermark, you’ll notice that every detail has been thoughtfully chosen. From a work desk from Poland to bark paper artwork from Mexico, and a custom kitchen from Newton Ferrers, the home is filled with pieces from around the world. Natural light floods the space, creating a serene atmosphere.

With the final touches made, the project was complete. This historic riverside property has been transferred into a beautiful, luxurious and functional home.

We’re pleased to share that the client has brought this to the holiday market, which you can view and book your stay here: https://www.uniquehomestays.com/self-catering/uk/devon/totnes/watermark/
