Helping Future Engineers Grow

At Harban Redwood, we are dedicated to supporting the next generation of engineers by providing hands-on experience and expert guidance. This commitment is evident through our internship program, which recently saw Nais Regazzo successfully complete a 12-month placement.

Learning on the Job
Interns at Harban Redwood collaborate closely with experienced professionals to develop valuable skills and knowledge. Their roles involve designing structures for various projects and managing multiple tasks, offering a real-world engineering experience.

Here are some key highlights from the latest 12-month internship

Adapting to Design Changes
A notable project involved designing a two-story house with a partially submerged basement and vaulted ceilings in Warwickshire. The project required numerous revisions due to changing client preferences, providing valuable experience in adapting designs and working with architects.

Building a Historic Footbridge
Another project included designing a replacement footbridge for a historic railway. Despite technical challenges and management changes, the design was completed on time, highlighting the importance of persistence and attention to detail.

Solving a New Problem
A unique challenge involved creating a cover for a collapsed mine near a major road in North Cornwall. Extensive research ensured a safe and compliant design, establishing expertise in mine caps and sharing this knowledge with colleagues.

Ensuring Safe Construction
In West Cornwall, the design of a kitchen’s structure in a residential development required close collaboration with the on-site builder. This ensured that all safety and construction requirements were met, particularly for the composite deck roof supporting a car park

Full service offering

The final project involved the development of four single-story houses. This required both structural and civil design, including drainage and Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDs) allowing the intern to gain hands-on experience in practical engineering applications.

Returning post studies.

Nais has been an outstanding addition to our team, providing invaluable support and demonstrating remarkable growth throughout her placement. We were so impressed with her dedication and performance that we’ve decided to sponsor Nais for the remaining years of her university studies. We’re excited to welcome Nais back to our team in the summer of 2025.

Harban Redwood remains committed to nurturing young engineers. By offering practical experience and expert mentorship, we prepare them to face future challenges. We invite any undergraduate or graduate aspiring to build a successful engineering career to connect with us and explore the opportunities at Harban Redwood.
